Celebrating August 30 Victory Day

Today we are celebrating August 30 Victory Day (30 Ağustos Zafer Bayramı). We remember the great leader Mustafa kemal Atatürk on this special day. Victory Day (local name: Zafer Bayramı) on August 30 is a national holiday in Turkey to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Dumlupınar, the one of the final battles and the most decisive one in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922.

Whitney Houston Dies at 48

Pop singer Whitney Houston has died at age 48. Houston, who struggled with addiction problems over the years, sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos over her career. Whitney Houston was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Famed music producer Clive Davis spotted Houston 20 years later in a New York nightclub, signing her on the spot. Houston is the most awarded female act of all time, according to Guinness World Records. Her awards include 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010. Houston met R&B singer Bobby Brown at 1989 Soul Train Music Awards, after a three year dating, they were married on July 18, 1992. They had daughter Bobbi Kristina on March 4, 1993. Brown and Houston separated in September 2006 and divorced on April 24, 2007. Houston's first film role was in The Bodyguard, released in 1992 and co-starring Kevin Costner. The film's soundtrack also caught great success, the soundtrack's lead single was I Will Always Love You, written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton in 1974. Whitney Houston passed away on February 11, 2012, in Beverly Hills, California, U.S. We all know that fame and success can't be as just the same as the first top years, so it is so normal to accept leading a life down to earth to avoid going into depression. Rest in peace.

George Clooney Selling His Villa

George Clooney owns a palatial 18th-century home in northern Italy. Now there is a recent rumour that Clooney is selling this glamorous villa, David Beckham and even Silvio Berlusconi are among the candidates for being the new owner of this excellent house!

If press reports are right, George Clooney gets his asking price of 30 million euros ($40.6 million) for Villa Oleandra, lakeside villa in the town of Laglio on Italy’s lake Como. He bought the stately home from the Heinz family in 2001, reportedly for 7 million euros ($9.5 millon).

Exclusive lakeside real-estate such as Clooney’s mansion rarely comes on the real estate property market, and the presence of Clooney himself is the main reason for a recent climb in local real-estate values around the town of Laglio and lake Como region in Italy.

Roberto Pozzi, the mayor of Laglio, has long time ago appreciated Clooney’s draw value for the town, and made the American actor an honorary citizen in 2004. So we all have to wait and see if George Clooney is really selling his precious property in Italy!

Brad Pitt designs an 800-room luxury hotel complex in Dubai. The Oscar-nominated Hollywood actor Pitt, among a team of design consultants, mentioned that the project is enviromentally friendly architecture.

Brad Pitt's architecture design is not only this luxury hotel project but he also helps to build 150 homes in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, an area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Pitt has previously said: "Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion. Selecting this development (talks about hotel design in Dubai) as my first major construction has been a simple decision. You can expect something that is not only stunning to look at but will also be an incredible attraction to visit or to stay at. I'm really into architecture, structure, and design. Give me anything and I'll design it. I'm a bit nutty with it."
